Police seek suspect, motive in Lawndale murder

Police are looking for a motive and suspect in the shooting death of 20-year-old Anthony Patterson, who was found on Monday inside a parked car in Lawndale.

Officer Jillian Russell, a Philadelphia police spokeswoman, said Patterson, of the 1400 block of Stevens St. in Oxford Circle, was killed by a single gunshot wound to the right side of his head.

Patterson was found sitting in a tan Pontiac that had been parked in a driveway at the rear of the 800 block of Unruh Ave.

Officers from the 2nd Police District went to the scene at 6:53 a.m. in response to a report of a “hospital case” and “a man passed out in a vehicle,” Russell said.

Patterson was pronounced dead at the scene at 7 a.m. ull;•
